Following the success of "Fiddler on the Roof", LOGON decided to continue producing musicals and opted for "Oklahoma", Rodgers and Hammerstein's landmark collaboration which was the first musical to integrate story, song and dance.
Meir Vardi, our new director from Kibbutz Gvulot, had spent several years in New York, studying and participating in American musical comedy. David Waldmann, who had prepared the playbacks for the previous show, returned as Musical Director, a post he retains as I write these words in 2009.
This show also saw Rosa Howden begin her LOGON career as choreographer and leading lady, with her husband Stephen taking the male lead. More husband and wife teams included June and Paul Hare who produced the show, Bob and Frieda Gilmour who fulfilled various backstage roles and Myra and Richard Bennett, who took on the stage management and set construction.
One innovation was the trial of role sharing, allowing for more parts for our talented cast members and reducing the risks involved with the lack of understudies.
The mixture of new blood and LOGON veterans ensured another great hit with the audiences.
